EMS and Circulation Claims: What to Ask a Provider

A statement that EMS improves circulation is not enough to establish a benefit from a particular fitness package. Ask what was measured, which device was used and how the claim relates to the service being offered.

Identify the outcome

General muscle activity, a laboratory measurement and a clinical improvement are different outcomes. Do not assume one proves another, or that a description of the mechanism guarantees less soreness or faster recovery.

Check the programme behind the evidence

Ask about the participants, supervision, session settings and comparison used in any cited study. A result from clinical electrical stimulation should not automatically be used to advertise a commercial whole-body fitness appointment.

Get appropriate advice for symptoms

If you have a circulation-related concern or another health condition, discuss the proposed activity with a healthcare professional. A studio article cannot assess suitability or recommend treatment.

Compare the fitness service clearly

Ask who will coach you, how suitability is assessed and how goals are reviewed. See session information and studio locations for practical details, without a promised circulation outcome.
